Conference Venue: De Krook

QoMEX 2023 will take place at De Krook. Since 2017, De Krook is one of the most striking architectural landmarks in Ghent. Among other things, the multi-award-winning building on a bend or crook in the Scheldt River houses the public city library, Ghent University labs and offices and the nanoelectronics and digital technology research centre imec. As well as a café with a terrace overlooking the Scheldt curve and the city centre.

Reaching Ghent

The city of Ghent is interconnected with all major Belgian cities, both by road and by railway. If you arrive by plane at Brussels Airport (Zaventem), the easiest way to reach Ghent is by taking the train inside the airport. The fare costs 17,80€ and it takes approximately 55 minutes to reach Gent-Sint-Pieters. Alternatively, there are Flixbuses from the airport to Ghent, which cost approximately 10€ and takes 1.40 hours to arrive. If you arrive at Brussels South (Charleroi), the fastest way to reach Ghent is by taking a flibco bus. The fare costs between 12.99 and 17,99€ and will take approximately 1.20 hours.

How to reach the QoMEX 2023 venue(s) in a sustainable way? By Walking!

All venues are within a few hundred meters walking distance. The venue for the conference and the venues for the social events, as well as the hotels listed on the webpage, are pinned on a Google map that you can find by clicking here, or by scanning the QR code. Below you can find 4 easy steps with pictures on how to reach the conference venue De Krook.

Step 1: The conference venue is at “De Krook” (we will be in “De Blauwe Vogel”). The building should be easy to find, and most people around Ghent know the building.

Step 2: To navigate to “De Krook” from any of the hotels in the center, we recommend you to set  “Take Five Espressobar” (the one in Grote Huidevettershoek 10) as the destination.

Step 3: It will give you a shorter (and slightly nicer) route.   The entrance is then just around the corner.

Step 4: “De Krook” is the public library and it does not open until 10 so we will use the entrance directly to the room. The entrance to our room is marked with a QoMEX 2023 banner outside.

Step 5 (alternative to step 2-4): If you instead arrive at the main entrance, you will also see the same flag, but then you should follow the “QoMEX 2023” signs down the stairs on the outside.
